A Little Autumn Story

There comes a point in autumn when every beautiful afternoon feels as though it ought to be saved.

The leaves have turned, the light has softened, and even an ordinary walk can leave you returning home with pockets full of little things—a fallen leaf, an old ticket, a scrap of paper you couldn't quite bring yourself to throw away.

One Last Autumn Afternoon was inspired by that fleeting part of the season.

The sort of afternoon when you wander without much of a plan, stopping wherever something catches your eye.

Perhaps there was somewhere to go. Perhaps the old tickets tucked into this collection remember where.

A dragonfly has stopped by, autumn leaves have been gathered along the way, and one rather elegant black cat appears to have found the prettiest place of all—sitting beneath a leafy arch as though the entire arrangement had been prepared especially for him.

I suspect he would agree that it was.

About This Set

Autumn Treasures: One Last Autumn Afternoon is a one-of-a-kind handmade mini journal and ephemera set created by Butterfly in the Attic.

At the center of the collection are two tall, slender mini journals dressed in warm autumn shades of orange and tangerine.

The rich color gives this set a wonderfully cozy feeling, while deep chocolate-brown backing and contrasting corner tuck pockets add another layer of warmth.

Soft, loosely woven cream fabric is threaded through metal eyelets at the tops of the journals. Left intentionally frayed and imperfect, the fabric adds the softly timeworn texture I love to mix with paper.

Inside are lined writing pages ready for memories, lists, observations and all the little thoughts that deserve somewhere to land.

A Place to Keep Everything

The collection slips into a large handmade tag-shaped holder in a soft ivory tone.

Its gently inked edges give it a subtle aged appearance, while the simple neutral surface provides a quiet background for the richer autumn colors tucked inside.

A deep semicircle opening at the front makes it easy to reach the journals while allowing the collection to remain visible when everything is stored together.

A coordinating autumn pen rests between the two mini journals, creating a complete little writing set that can be kept together and ready whenever inspiration strikes.

Two Oversized Writing Tags

Two large coordinating tags add even more room for writing, memory keeping and collage.

One is finished in a lovely Burnt Umber, while the other features a delicate taupe lace-like pattern. Both have softly aged edges and simple fabric tabs that continue the handmade, collected-over-time feeling of the set.

The reverse sides provide generous surfaces for writing and decorating.

Use them for an autumn memory, favorite quotation, seasonal recipe, photograph, gratitude list or a little record of an afternoon you don't want to forget.

Part of the fun of this collection is discovering the small removable pieces tucked inside.

And then there is the black cat.

He sits beneath a beautifully illustrated floral and leafy arch looking quite composed about the whole situation.

Whether he is waiting for someone, guarding the autumn garden or simply knows he has found the best seat in the house is entirely up to you.

The ephemera can be rearranged among the pockets, tucked into another journal, added to collage work or mixed with your own collected paper treasures.

Nothing has to remain exactly where I put it.

In fact, I rather hope it doesn't.
