Red Cabbage Naturally Hand-Dyed Paper – Sky & Aqua Blue – 10 Sheets, 8.5 × 11 Inch
Details
Who would expect a red cabbage to make something this blue?
These naturally hand-dyed papers begin with one of the most wonderfully surprising colors in Wander Through the Paper Garden—a beautiful sky blue to aqua blue created using red cabbage.
Each package contains 10 sheets of standard 8.5 × 11 inch copy paper, individually hand dyed using red cabbage.
The resulting papers have a fresh, botanical blue character that can shift through sky blue, soft aqua, and related blue tones. Because the color comes from natural materials rather than commercially manufactured pigment, the color and markings develop differently from sheet to sheet.
Some sheets may be relatively quiet, allowing the natural variations of the dye to show on their own. Others may have mottling, organic markings, impressions, or deeper and lighter areas created during dyeing and drying.
Some sheets may also feature intentionally created stencil patterns, adding another layer of design to the naturally dyed surface.
There is no standard assortment.
Each package is its own little collection of ten naturally dyed sheets.

Wander Through the Paper Garden
Step into a garden where paper takes its color from the natural world.
Wander Through the Paper Garden is a collection of hand-dyed papers created with natural materials, where color, water, texture, and time are allowed to leave their own marks behind.
No two sheets grow quite the same.
Some emerge softly mottled and quiet. Others carry deeper pools of color, delicate speckles, unexpected impressions, or patterns left behind during the dyeing and drying process. Some are given an additional layer of pattern through stenciling, while others are left to show whatever nature decided to create.
These beautiful variations are part of the journey.
Made for junk journals, collage, altered books, mixed media, paper crafting, and wherever your own creativity happens to wander.
The Beautiful Surprise of Red Cabbage
One of my favorite things about working with natural dyes is discovering colors you might never expect from the material that created them.
Red cabbage produces an unexpectedly beautiful blue.
These papers emerge in wonderful sky blue and aqua blue tones, with the natural variations that make hand-dyed paper so interesting.
One sheet may be more softly colored while another develops a richer area of blue. Color may pool along an edge, fade gently from one area into another, or leave behind subtle markings and variations across the page.
The drying process can contribute patterns of its own. Paper may pick up impressions from cloth, paper towels, textured surfaces, plant material, or other things it encounters during the dyeing and drying process.
Some sheets are also deliberately patterned using stencils, while others are left to reveal the natural markings of the dye.
No two sheets are exactly alike.
And that's precisely the point.
A VERY Important Note About the Photographs & Color
This particular natural dye has been extremely difficult to photograph accurately.
I tried multiple camera settings and photographic approaches in an effort to reproduce the actual color of these papers. Unfortunately, the camera consistently makes the blue appear much paler, more washed out, and less vibrant than it appears in person.
The actual papers are a beautiful sky blue to aqua blue.
Please do not use the apparent depth or intensity of the blue in the photographs as an exact representation of the color you will receive.
The photographs are provided to show the general blue color family, natural variations, stencil possibilities, texture, and character of the papers, but they do not fully capture the richness of the actual blue.
Individual computer monitors, phones, tablets, screen brightness, and display settings can cause additional differences in perceived color.
Natural dye itself also varies. No two sheets or dye batches are guaranteed to produce precisely the same shade.
Please expect natural variation—and expect the actual blue to have more presence than my camera was able to capture.
Made for Creative Possibilities
These beautiful botanical blues would be wonderful in junk journals, altered books, handmade journals, collage, mixed media, scrapbook layouts, folios, tags, pockets and tuck spots, handmade cards, paper ephemera, correspondence, bookmaking, backgrounds, layering, and other creative paper projects.
The sky and aqua tones could work especially beautifully with botanical, ocean, coastal, garden, cottage, celestial, spring, summer, nature, and whimsical themes.
Quiet sheets can become backgrounds or writing pages. Naturally patterned and stenciled sheets can become focal pages, pockets, tags, collage pieces, or decorative layers.
And don't throw away those scraps.
A tiny piece carrying a deeper pool of aqua or part of a stencil impression can sometimes become the best little detail in a collage.
Please Note
These papers are hand dyed rather than commercially printed or mechanically color-matched.
Natural variation is expected and may include differences in color, depth of tone, saturation, mottling, speckling, organic markings, surface texture, stencil placement, and impressions created during the drying process.
Small natural traces or inclusions associated with the dyeing process may occasionally remain.
Because paper is exposed to liquid during hand dyeing, individual sheets may also have slight waviness, wrinkles, softened edges, or other dimensional variations.
Stencil designs, when included, may vary in pattern, position, clarity, and intensity.
These characteristics are part of the handmade nature of the paper and will vary from package to package.
You will receive 10 sheets. You will not necessarily receive the exact sheets shown in the photographs.
Care & Storage
Because these papers receive their color from natural materials rather than commercially manufactured colorfast dyes, some change in color may occur over time.
For best preservation, store unused papers in a cool, dry location away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and humidity.
Natural dyes may react differently with adhesives, sealants, sprays, inks, wet media, and other art materials. If the finished appearance is important to your project, testing your chosen product on a scrap or inconspicuous area first is recommended.
These papers are intended for decorative paper crafting and creative use.
They are not represented as archival, acid-free, food-safe, or colorfast unless specifically stated otherwise.
