Antique 1890s Butterfly Brand Squash Can Label – Original Victorian Ephemera

A beautiful survivor from the late 19th century, this original Butterfly Brand Boston Marrow Squash can label dates to the 1890s and features an wonderfully detailed butterfly at the center of its colorful lithographic design.

Created for Olney & Floyd of Westernville, Oneida County, New York, the label combines rich red, gold, green, and black typography with botanical ornament and a large butterfly illustration—a striking example of the elaborate commercial artwork used on food packaging during the Victorian era.

Measuring approximately 14" x 4½", this is an authentic antique paper label rather than a modern reproduction. Its long horizontal format makes it especially interesting for junk journals, altered books, collage and mixed-media work, where it could become a wraparound cover element, large pocket, foldout, belly band, tip-in, or dramatic focal piece.
